Acrylic Plastic is generally accepted as an affordable and durable alternative to using glass. It is strong, light and incredibly transparent. It has been used commercially since the early 1900s and continues to be one of the most frequently used plastics in the manufacturing industry.

Production Process

Acrylic is a synthetic plastic that is part of the acryl group, derived from acrylic acid. The most well known form is 'polymethyl methacrylate', otherwise known as Perspex. It is a polymer, which means it is made up of many molecules linked together in a chain.  Due to the chemical structure of polymers they can be specifically made to have certain properties.  This important characteristic means acrylic plastic is manufactured for its transparency and resistance to violent light.
